NFL Draft QBs: Faux Brett Kern

I think Blake Bortles is the best QB in this years draft. I said it, Bortles is better than Manziel, Bridgewater, and Hundley. This is a draft stocked with QBs, and i think we could see 4 or even 5 that will go in the 1st round. This is my list of the best QBs in this draft.

Chiefs vs. Broncos review

In the rematch basically for the AFC west title the broncos won 35-28 and now have a 2 game lead over kc in the division. But Denver wasn't the better team on the field. Their touchdowns came on big plays and Denver couldn't put together long drives vs the kc defense. Kansas City could run the ball at ease and passes it pretty good. Alex smith has come a long way in the last two weeks. But I must say Denver is going to be a tough out ik the playoffs because of their big play ability. They can score so easily. Manning has tons of weapons around him  Denver has 4 pro bowl recievers  Kansas City has none. So as Denver is the better team according to the scoreboard... Anybody who watched the game knows the chiefs should have won

Kansas Jayhawks early season favorites?

You read that correctly, the Kansas Jayhawks are the early season favorites to cut down the nets in Texas. Why? The have the most room for growth. They have such a young team that's only gonna get better. Defensively they are average at best, but bill self will get that fixed. They desperately need leadership. They don't have any seniors that play any minutes. Junior point guard naadir tharpe needs to step up. He needs to assert himself as a leader. Andrew wiggins with all the hype coming in has been about half as good as perry Ellis. Perry Ellis is getting no talk, but he has been the best player in college basketball so far. Wayne Selden is a great young player as is fearless frank mason. Mason has been in my mind the most impressive player so far this year. He drives the lane without fear and is a great passer. Kansas' potential is a great that they could be scary good in march and honestly I don't think Michigan state is for real. They played great vs Kentucky but has struggled since. Kentucky and Duke don't look like threats, kansas has a huge size advantage over Oklahoma state. Unless they screw up pretty bad, kansas will be national champs.

Why the Chiefs aren't what we think they are

I know, I know. The Cheifs are 9-0 and giving the Broncos a challenege, but without a top level QB you cannot go far up in the playoffs. Alex Smith is not a top QB, he's average, and thats all he'll ever be. I don't think he has the talent to be a top level QB. In the draft (my specialty) I think the perfect fit for this team is the battle tested and expirienced Aaron Murray. I mean, look at Russell Wilson. He's short and still better than Alex Smith. Drew Brees BLOWS by Alex Smith. I just don't think the Chiefs can go far into the playoffs with Smith at QB

Backup QBs

In the NFL today, its a passing league. So, obviouls you have to have a good #1. But, and as we have seen this year, you have to have a solid #2. The Cowboys probably have the best backup in the NFl, with Kle Orton. Then you have the Bears with Josh McCown, and the guy I used to love, Matt Cassel. Of cource, us Titans have a pretty good one, too. Fitz Magic, as I call him, isn't too far off from Jake Locker. He even has legs.

Don't Dump on the Titans just yet. Titans vs. Colts Thursday Night Football. by Ben Williams

Following the Jacksonville loss, a lot of Titans fans have given up on this team, and who could blame them?

It looks woeful from an outside perspective. Jake Locker is on IR for the year with a Lisfranc foot injury, they have fallen to below .500 once again, and an underachieving Titans squad are fresh off a game that they had no business losing.  Bundle all that up and add it to the fact that The Titans now have to face division leading Indianapolis on a short week's rest on Thursday night. You may as well just stay home and watch ABC's Nashville. 

Hang on now, calm down. It's not time to shut the lights out on this season just let. Even with a Titans loss against Jacksonville (albeit inexplicable and embarrassing) they are still very much in the wildcard hunt. And since The Colts were broken-in (horse joke) at home (38-8) by St. Louis, there is still an ever so slight glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel to win the division. 

Miami lost. San Diego lost. They both are sitting 4-5. So sure, the Titans squandered an opportunity to claim sole possession of first place in this hunt, but there is still hope for the hopeful. 

Ryan "Fitz!"patrick will be the starter for the Titans at quarterback. Despite losing a fumble returned for a touchdown that iced the loss in the closing minutes of the Jaguars game, he played well replacing Locker, completing 22 of 33 passes for 264 yards and 2 TDs. 

Fitzpatrick has shown that he can be a solid starter in the league in years past if he can keep his turnovers down. That's been an issue for him in the previous games as a Titan when Jake Locker was dealing with a right hip injury. 

“I’m no longer the guy that’s holding the seat warm for Jake, with him being out the remainder of the year now, it’s my gig and the communication has to step up that much more,” Fitpatrick said. “I felt more comfortable going into the last game for whatever reason, being thrown into the fire like that than I have the two previous starts. I think the two starts and getting the experience with the guys on the field and having a feel for them and them having a feel for me (helped).”

Offensive Coordinator Dowell Loggains was pleased with Fitzpatrick's performance against Jacksonville. It was his best performance as a Titan by far, but Jacksonville is is not Indianapolis. That being said the Colts Defense has shown holes; especially in last weeks game against the Rams where they gave up 138 yards receiving to Tavon Austin alone. 

If the game comes down to the end, the money's on Luck. Andrew Luck has proved to be a gamer in the closing seconds as he has led the Colts to seven 4th quarter come-from-behind wins and ten game winning drives in just a season and a half (Profootballreference.com)

The key to the game for the Titans is to establish the run sure, but to establish some kind of offense early. They've only led at half-time in three out of nine games so far this season. The Titans have to avoid a sluggish start that they've been known for this year against Andrew Luck. You don't want to give him any opportunity at the end of a game. 

Champions classic

College basketball is officially under way ladies and gentleman! What a way to get it started. We have #1 vs #2 and #4 vs #5. In the 1st game Michigan state was taking on an inexperienced Kentucky team. Jon calipari Kentucky coach said before the game that it was unfair to play Michigan state and that they couldn't win. If I was a player and my coach said this I wouldn't want to play for him. He says we can't win so let's not play. You cannot make excuses when playing a good team. Young or whatever it is you have  to show up and play doesn't matter how good you are. Michigan state jumped out to a 10-0 lead and the lead was there for the whole 1st half, but in the 2nd half Julius Randle put Kentucky on his back. He scored 23 in the 2nd half and Kentucky tied it at 64. Keith applying bit a 3 and Gary Harris got a steal and a layup and Michigan state was up 5. With 10 seconds left Kentucky was down 2 and needed a stop. They got a miss but branden Dawson tipped it in and Michigan state won 78-74.
The 2nd game featured 2 blue bloods in Kansas vs duke. But kansas' blood was bluer. Jabari Parker went off for 19 in the 1st half as andrew wiggins was sitting with foul trouble. Perry Ellis took over for the jayhawks as he was unstoppable. He had 23 and 9 rebounds. Duke lead 42-40 at half. In the 2nd half andrew wiggins took over as he scored 16 in the 2nd half including an and 1 that also fouled Jabari Parker out of the game as Kansas won 94-83. The 3 freshman both played great. And it should be a great season of basketball

Titans vs. Jaguars: Week Ten Preview. by Ben Williams

The Tennessee Titans draw a familiar opponent in week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars who, even when down in the past, have proved to be a tough out. 

As it stands, the AFC looks to have only one vacant wildcard playoff berth. The other of these should be claimed by either the Chiefs or the Broncos. There are four teams legitimately in the hunt for that last ticket to the post-season; the Chargers, Dolphins, and Titans all at 4-4 and the Jets at 5-4. The Browns aren't far behind at 4-5, but it doesn't seem likely that they can sustain enough wins to get to that target record of either 9-7 or 10-6.  

The Jets are a tough one to figure. Over the last four weeks, they have lost to a 2-6 Steelers teams, beat a quality New England, were absolutely embarrassed at Cincinnati (49-9), and then pull an unlikely upset against New Orleans. Geno Smith has thrown 8 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. It's difficult to see a team led by a quarterback rating of 71 make a run for the playoffs. 

Who knows where the Dolphins will go from here. They've lost two of their starting offensive linemen due to spilled milk. Offensive guard Richie Incognito (who was a pro-bowler last year) and tackle Jonathan Martin are gone indefinitely. It's also tough to see this team tying it's locker room up tight enough to make a run. 

Then there's San Diego who have been a bit bi-polar at times as well, losing at Oakland and following it the next week with a win over Indianapolis in which they kept Andrew Luck and the Colts out of the end zone. 

All of that being said The Titans certainly have to win themselves, but even with a lot of football left to be played they control their own destiny at this point. The good teams win the games that they should win. Jacksonville is one of those teams that the Titans have to beat and beat soundly. They haven't done that in the past. 

The Jaguars went 2-14 in 2012. One of those two wins came against the Titans. Granted the Titans were 6-10  themselves last year, but this year things seem to be different. for the Titans anyway. Now Tennessee has a legitimate shot at the post-season and the Jaguars are win-less through eight games. 

This match-up doesn't strike most as a "must win" game but it really is. If Tennessee loses to Jacksonville, not only do they not deserve a playoff spot; they won't get one. 

Chad Henne will start at quarterback for the Jags. They are ranked dead last offensively in both points-per-game (10.8) and yards-per-game (286.5) and have recently lost wide receiver Justin Blackmon (who had 415 of those yards) for the year for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. 

On the flip-side, it seems that the Titans have finally found their running game. Chris Johnson logged 23 carries for 150 yards and two touchdowns against the Rams and Shonn Greene went for 38 yards on nine carries and a touchdown. Jake Locker (who was stagnant in the passing game) added another score on the ground. 

If Tennessee continues to click in the ground game, it doesn't bode well for the the Jacksonville defense who rank last in the NFL in rushing defense giving up 161 yards a game. 

The Titans defense is ranked ninth in points allowed (20.9 per game) and 11th in yards allowed (340.2 per game). Numbers do lie sometimes, but for the purposes of breaking down this week's match-up, they should hold true. Good teams win games that they should win.

Week 9 crash course

I truly apologize for not posting this last week I was dealing with health issues but that's in the past. Here's the week 9 crash course. The dolphins win on Halloween on a game winning safety in overtime just the 3rd time in nfl history that's happened. I would like to send my prayers to Jonathan Martin and his family during this rough time. THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS ARE 9-0 ladies and gentleman. They struggled but hey a win is a win. Tony romo actually did something clutch but it's not the apocalypse as it came against the Vikings at home. Tennessee gets their revenge on the rams 28-21 from the Super Bowl that famously was won at the 1 yard line. Rams fans say it's okay as they have a Super Bowl instead of a regular season win. The jets beat the saints. No u did not misread that. The jets beat the saints. Washington is back in the playoff picture with a 30-24 win over the chargers in overtime. Did wood head break the plane? You make the call. Carolina has won 4 in a row. They are tied with the saints a top the NFC south. Nick files tied an nfl record with 7 TD passes. But coming against the raiders doesn't actually count. The Seahawks won a game they should have but shouldn't have. Their a top team but struggled against the worst team before turning it on to win. Tol Brady went full homo. Never go full homo. But he threw for 400 yards and most importantly got the high five. The colts beat the texans in their playoff game. We would like to send Gary kubiak and john fox our prayers here at ap sports blog. Monday night football. Bears packers. Cutler and Rodgers... On the bench? Yes McGown and Wallace were the quarterbacks. The bears won the game to end week 9.

Preview: Titans vs. Rams. by Ben Williams

Almost 15 years removed from a 23-16 loss to the St. Louis Rams in Superbowl XXXIV, Jeff Fisher will coach in a Titans vs. Rams rematch. However, this time Fisher will be coaching on the opposite side-line from the Titans.

Perhaps all those years should be enough to cure the woes of what could have been, but whatever bitterness the Titans organization and fan-base may still have lying around may be amplified in this seldom played match-up against the Rams and second-year Head Coach Jeff Fisher. 

Fisher Coached the Oilers/Titans for almost 17 seasons (the current longest tenure in the NFL is Bill Belichick with 13), so for Titans fans there has to be an odd sense of nostalgia heading into this game. On the flip side, as far as the players feel; maybe not so much. There are only 16 current players on the roster that were around when Fisher was at the helm. 

As to be expected, Fisher has downplayed it as just another opponent in a must win game. Fisher told reporters, "I'm not playing, and I think there's 16 players on the roster that were there when I was there So it's a different football team, so I'm excited for our guys." (per Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean) 

It is also worth mentioning that Fisher did recall his time with the Titans with fondness and thanked the Titans organization and former owner Bud Adams who passed away just over a week ago.

As for the current match-up on the field, the Titans are coming off of an extra week of rest and the Rams are coming off of a short week from their 14-9 loss to Seattle on Monday night. Titans quarterback Jake Locker and running back Shonn Greene are seemingly the biggest beneficiaries of the bye week since they both are still recovering from injury. 

That leads into the biggest key of the game for the Titans offense. According to Mike Munchak, Shonn Greene is to see a spike in his work-load (to say the least), receiving around 15 carries a game. This seems like an unrealistic number given that the Titans are averaging 27 rushing attempts per game and five of those are coming from the quarter back. Still if this is even close to being accomplished, it's encouraging for the Titans rushing game. After all, they aren't paying him $1.65 million to have two carries a game.

Even though it's his backfield, Chris Johnson is a one-type kind of back. He is an open field runner with elusiveness in space and break away speed. Greene was brought in to be the in between the tackles back that they desperately needed, but has been plagued by a knee injury since the start of the season. He did return week 7 against San Francisco, but only received one carry. One must assume he wasn't quite there yet, so with the bye week's rest and Munchak's surprising confidence he could be a factor in those tough yardage situations. 

The Rams defensive line has been a proven pass rushing threat but their run stopping ability has shown to be exploitable, giving up 86 yards a game (24th in NFL). With both backs finally healthy, the Titans have an added dimension to keep the defense guessing. 

Speaking of the running game, Zac Stacy seems to have emerged as "the guy" in Jeff Fisher's backfield. Though the Rams fell to the Seahawks, Stacy established himself as the worthy starter recording 26 rushing attempts for 134 yards. In the two previous games he recorded  17 and 18 carries. The only problem is that the Rams have failed to record a rushing touchdown so far this season.

There has also been a teak in the Titans special teams. Returner Darius Reynaud was cut after the San Francisco game and is replaced by wide receiver Damian Williams who returned kicks in college for USC.   

The emotion of the reunion with Jeff Fisher will be short-lived if not non-existent altogether. Neither of these franchises are big on creating a commotion of controversy, so there should be a few kind words and handshakes exchanged but not much more since getting this win is so important for both teams' playoff hopes. 

 Though Jake Locker seems to be 100% healthy and has shown talent in the passing game, look for this to be a Jeff Fisher-esque game with stout defense and lots of rushes. 

Chris Johnson has received a lot of grief for his comment, "If the running game doesn't get going, this is going to be another non-playoff team." That may be the smartest thing he has ever said. 

                                                                                                                                                                           

Bye Week: The AFC Playoff Picture. by Ben Williams

There are many things to consider for the Tennessee Titans heading into their week 8 bye. Of these are overall health of players, preparations for an upcoming match-up against the St. Louis Rams, and above all where they stand in the overall playoff picture.

Tennessee, though starting fast has been on a three game stink chute, losing to K.C., Seattle, and San Francisco. Before the season many agreed that this was a 2 to 6 win team at best taking into account the team's lack of success in 2012 and an absurdly difficult schedule. To be 3-4 at this point in the season is not satisfactory by their standards, but not all bad.

A smart man would have to figure the Titans will have a shot to bounce back following this bye week as the worst of the schedule has already passed. In their first seven games, Tennessee has faced opponents with a combined record of 30-18. In the upcoming nine games, opponents have a current combined record of 26-36. It also helps that they play the hapless 0-7 Jaguars twice.

Of course numbers don't tell the whole story, but those same numbers are the reason why so many predicted the Titans to have little success banging heads with such a difficult schedule. The combined 2012 record of Houston, Indianapolis, Denver, San Francisco, and Seattle was 58-21-1. They obviously play division rivals Houston and Indianapolis twice. And the Kansas City Chiefs, who are the only remaining unbeaten team in 2013, were 2-14 last year. Who saw that coming?

The point is that, although anyone can beat anyone any Sunday, the hardest part is over for the Titans and things in the AFC may not look as bleak as their below .500 record might indicate.

It would figure that either Kansas City or Denver will be claiming one of the two available wildcard playoff spots, but the second is up for grabs. Of the teams in the AFC chasing that second spot are the N.Y. Jets at 4-3, San Diego at 4-3, Miami at 3-3 and Baltimore, Cleveland, and Tennessee all at 3-4. It certainly helps that the Titans hold a tie-breaking win over both San Diego and New York.

Most teams in the NFL are separated by only inches. This is the turning point in the season where the good teams assert themselves in a position for the post-season and the bad teams fade.

With the NBA season just days a way here are my player rankings for the season
1. Miami Heat - there the top dogs till the get knocked off.
2. Indian pacers- will give heat a run for there money a top easy.
3. Brooklyn nets - big trade makes neat ready for playoff run
4. Clippers - this could be there year to rule the west
5. Spurs - veteran crew ready for another title
6. Rockets - Howard and harden best duo in the league
7. Thunder - need Westbrook back fast
8. Bulls - rose makes team contender
9. Grizzlies - physicality makes them a tough out in playoffs.
10. Warriors - with iggy, team ready for title run
11. Knicks - can anything bring title back in last year?
12. Hawks - big offseason gets team to playoffs
13. T'wolves - love Rubio and pekovic gives them a solid base need more help.
14. Mavs - what does dirk have left? Monta Ellis provides more scoring
15. Cavs - I don't get what people are so high on them for? Bynum hasn't played in over a year. This does not make them definite in playoffs. Lyric will need to stay healthy.
16. Blazers - Lillard makes big jump... Which is scary.
17. Nuggets - no iggy, no Karl, no chance
18. Wizards - can wall stay healthy all year? If so playoffs
19. Pistons - huge offseason but can they okay together?
20. Pelicans - not high on them. Davis and holiday only true players
21. Lakers - Kobes health is key
22. Kings - another year of worrying about moving
23. Raptors - Rudy gay needs help
24. Magic - oladipo looks like a stud. Too young. Give them 5 years
25. Jazz - worst offseason of the year

Week 7 player rankings

I'll be ranking the top 5 players by position for their play during last week.
Quarterbacks
1. Andrew Luck- I mean what can I say about this kid that you didn't see during that game. This kids gonna be great.
2. Matt Ryan - with those injuries to do that? Idc about the bucs d he played great.
3. Matthew Stafford - threw for 357 and 3 TDS  didn't get the win, but played great with no turnovers.
4. Andy Dalton - same game better result for him. Had an 82 yard TD to AJ Green.
5. Payton Manning - colts D played great but manning solved it late just not well enough for a win.
 RUNNING BACKS -
1. Matt forte - picked up the slack after jay cutlers injury. Had 3 scored vs the redskins
2. Roy Helu - had 3 scores including the game winner. Glad to see him getting playing time
3. Jamaal Charles - really the reason the chiefs are 7-0 other than the defense. 7 games over 100 for him
4. Ryan Matthews - looks like the fumbling probz are behind him. Had over 100 and a score
Eddie Lacy - didn't go over 100 but did score. Has potential to be great

WIDE RECIEVERS
1. Megaton - 9-155 and 2 scores. Is there anything he can't do?
2.AJ Green- had an 82 yard td catch and over 100. Clearly the 2nd best in the game
3. Eric Decker - Payton's favorite target throughout the game. Looked his way when he needed a play.
4. Harry Douglas - needs to step up the rest of the way if the falcons want in the playoffs. Big game of many for him
5. Jordan reed- had 9-134 and a score. Not a big name but big game.

Week 7 crash course

Week 7 in the nfl started with a lot of scoring, but not by the offense. 4 touchdowns by the defenses in the first quarter! The jets yes those New York jets who haven't quite lived down the butt fumble yet, got revenge on the patriots with Nick Folk kicking the game winning field goal. Patriots fans complain about the officiating. Yes those same patriot fans who claim the tuck rule was a great rule. I give a lot of credit to Matt Ryan. 3 of his top players out and he puts up great numbers still. Falcons still in stiff contention. In a matchup of the top 2 recievers in the league, AJ green and megaton both played great. Mike Niger hit the game winning field goal from 54 yards. Where was all the offense in the eagles cowboys game? 17-3? For chip kelly 3 points is a disappointing drive not a whole game. RG3 finally played like himself and his team wins. I am not writing there name on here. I do not approve of racism. The chiefa are the only remaining unbeaten team winning 17-16. For Andy Reid 17 is a disappointing number of lbs of barbecue not his score for the football game. The titans get pushed around at home, get booed off the field, have less fans than the 49ers at the end and yet only lose by 14. This exoina why harbaugh was so upset. Pittsburgh yes those steelers who were 0-4 and people thought the world was ending have won 2 in a row and are fighting for the division. I would be shocked if they got in. Payton Manning won yet another game for the colts. Bad news; he plays for the broncos. He almost lost it for the colts at the end, but played he played it like a playoff game and did great for the colts. The worst Monday night football game ever was played. If anybody watched it start to finish you deserve and award. I have up after the 1st quarter. Josh freeman had about 30 incompletions making him the best quarterback they've had since Favre. So to sum up week 7, it brought defensive scores, winning field goals, patriot fans in tears and Payton manning choking in Indy. Where have I heard that before.

1. Matt Ryan - with all due respect what he did yeaterday regardless if it was against the bucs was still amazing considering the injuries they had.
2. Andrew Luck- going up against the guy you will always be compared to and in my mind outplaying him in the stadium he built.. Props to you andrew.
3. Whoever threw the flag in the pats game- that rule is in the rule book. The pats are always on the right side of these calls and for once there not and they bitch about it. I applaud you mr. Referee

Preview: Tennessee Titans vs. San Francisco 49ers. by Ben Williams

The 3-3 Tennessee Titans will meet the 4-2 San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, October 20th at LP Field in Nashville.

 It's an interesting match-up with some crucial maybes heading into the contest. For the Titans, who have proven they can be in games with tougher opponents, there is still an awful lot to prove as to whether they can win the big games.

Will Ryan Fitzpatrick be able to establish a rhythm with an underrated receiving core against yet another top ten defense (This is the third week in a row they face a top ten D) or will Jake Locker have a chance to start? Will an offensive line tweak (to what many agreed was a pre-season potential to be of the best in the NFL) make a positive difference for Chris Johnson and the Titans run game? Can Colin Kaepernick's new found relationship with Vernon Davis be contained?

All good questions. Here's hoping for answers.

From the Titan's perspective, the head line story is Jake Locker. When he left the game in week 3 against the New York Jets, Locker was said to be out 4-6 weeks with both a sprained right hip and a sprained right MCL (per Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean).

Six weeks seems like an eternity in the NFL, and although Locker's young career has seemingly walked hand-in-hand with injury, he has shown to be a fast healer. The timetable for his injured non-throwing shoulder suffered at Houston last year was said to be 8 weeks. He returned in only 6.

At any rate, a 75% Jake Locker is better then a 100% Ryan Fitzpatrick. That's just sound mathematics. According to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean, Locker took the majority of the first team snaps in the Friday practice over Fitzpatrick after he was medically cleared for contact on Thursday. However you want to read into that, it seems like potentially positive news for the Titans.

An issue that has been plaguing The Titans offense is the poor performance of the run game. With additions such as Pro Bowler guard Andy Levitre and first-round pick Chance Warmack to the already proven tackles, David Stewart and Michael Roos, The line figured to be a force to be reckoned with. However the interior has struggled to mesh as a unit and open lanes for Chris Johnson.

The Titans will look to shake things up on the O-line sunday, starting rookie center Brian Schwenke out of Cal.

 Head Coach Mike Munchak said that he felt Schwenke was the best center in the draft and they hoped for good things out of him, but after Schwenke fell victim to injury early on in training camp, free-agent acquisition Rob Turner from St. Louis won the job and has started ever since. With the move from Turner to Schwenke, The Titans hope to right the ship for Chris Johnson who has averaged just 3.1 yards a carry (per ESPN). They also hope to get Shonn Greene back from injury who hasn't played since week one against the Steelers.

The main defensive question to be answered for the Titans is whether they will be able to stop tight end Vernon Davis from having another big performance, and running back Frank Gore from doing what he does.

The 49ers struggled early in the season when they seemed to get away from their identity. In weeks two and three it seemed like the game plan was to have Colin Kaepernick throw it all over the yard. They were embarrassed in both games falling to Seattle 29-3 and to Indianapolis 27-7 (Granted neither of those teams are anything to sneeze at). Since then, the 49ers have gone back to establishing the run, Kaepernick picking his spots, and a tough defense. As a result, they've strung together three straight wins against the Rams, Cardinals, and the ailing Texans.

The goal for the Titans defense is no easy feat: Stop Frank Gore, stop Vernon Davis, stop Kaepernick, stop the 49ers. With defensive end Ropati Pitoitua being a nice surprise as both a pass rusher (4 sacks) and a run-stopper , Alterraun Verner's consistent play at corner opposite Jason McCourty, and Zach Brown's speed at outside line backer, the Titans have a fighter's chance at holding the 49ers offense, but it'll be a stout challenge.

Also, you have to figure that safety George Wilson will be heavily involved in situation downs and covering Vernon Davis's vertical ability.

49ers line backer Patrick Willis, who has been bothered by a nagging groin injury, and Titans safety Bernard Pollard are both designated as probable to play on Sunday, but Titans line backer Moise Fokou will be out for the game and replaced by last year's standout starter, Colin McCarthy. However, McCarthy may be a question mark on the Titans defense after losing his job in camp to Fokou.

 Jake Locker is still officially listed as questionable, but Titans fans may have reason for optimism barring some last minute swelling in his right knee.

It's Code Blue for Nashville, and this game figures to be a good one.

This week is gonna be a pretty big week for SEC football and here's my take on what's going to happen this weekend.

#15 Georgia vs. Vanderbilt 12:00 PM EST – CBS

(4-2) Georgia is heading to Nashville this week for their 4^th SEC game in a row. They started off this stretch looking strong against LSU pulling out a win there and then the following week winning a nail biter in OT against a rebuilding Tennessee team. Last week they came back home to play a surging and undefeated Missouri team and couldn't put down the Tigers losing 41-26.

(3-3) Vanderbilt under the coaching of a confident James Franklin is looking to prove that they can win big ball games against their SEC counterparts, as they host the Bulldogs this week. The Commodores come into this game lacking a single conference victory but this might be their best opportunity to get one as they take on a beat up Georgia team. Vanderbilt had last week off to rest and get some extra practice/film time in after falling to the same Missouri team that took down the Bulldogs last week. very well has some talent on their team and a pretty decent head coach but I'm not sure if it's enough to take down this Georgia team under the reigns Coach Richt.

I'm gonna play it safe on this one and give the W to the Bulldogs but don't be surprised if Vandy pulls it out.

#11 South Carolina vs. Tennessee 12:00 PM EST – ESPN

(5-1) South Carolina has had what you could call a slow start to their season, losing to Georgia and barely pulling out some games against others. This Gamecock team is the most puzzling team in the SEC for me. Their 5-1 record and their #11 ranking shows that they should be regarded as a top team but I haven't seen what separates them from the pack other than a few points. A few weeks ago a mid-tier UCF team had them playing catch up most of the game and then they gave up 21 points to (1-5) Kentucky late in the 4^th quarter but still squeezed out a win. These aren't necessarily horrible things but heading into Neyland Stadium housing the upset hungry Volunteers and arguably one of the best 12^th mans in college football they cannot let it be a close game.

(3-3) Tennessee and Coach Butch Jones' motto for the year has been “Brick By Brick” focusing on rebuilding this historic program and he's been doing absolutely that. Vols' fans didn't really have too much to be excited about before the season but after the heartbreaking overtime loss against Georgia and with Jones lighting up the recruiting trail it has the fan base feeling a surge of excitement and it's gonna show this Saturday when they welcome in the Gamecocks. Hiring Jones was the best move by the program in awhile, he's got a team that on paper is lacking in talent, hanging with higher up SEC teams. The Vols don't have anything close to an all-star offense but it's good enough to get down the field enough and score some points while the Vols' defense contains the Gamecock offense. I expect this to be a big defensive game, not much of a high scorer.

Take this as my upset for the week. Tennessee > #11 South Carolina 17-13

#22 Florida vs. #14 Missouri 12:21 PM EST – SEC TV

(4-2) Florida's season has been a pretty interesting but straight forward ride for them. The Gators have won all the games I expected them to win and have lost the two I expected them to lose. Their original starting quarterback Jeff Driskel went down for the season in Week 3 against Tennessee with a broken leg. You'd think losing your starting QB would be a huge deal but for Florida it hasn't been. Tyler Murphy stepped in for Driskel and so far has thrown for 645 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Those are pretty great stats for a quarterback who up until the game against the Vols hadn't played a college snap before. I could be the only person but I feel as though the Gators are better with Murphy behind the center, the guy stepped in and looked more comfortable than Driskel did starting the game. I expect Florida's defense to continue to perform well even against this Missouri offense but this game for the Gators is going to be all about how Murphy and his offense perform.

(6-0) Mizzou was a team I didn't believe in early in the season when they started off 4-0. They were winning and playing well but because of their schedule I couldn't get behind them, but then they picked up their 5^th win against Vanderbilt and won pretty convincingly and that's what really piqued my interest about the Tigers. I was really excited to see how they did going up against a more top tier SEC team and they oh man did they convince me that they were for real. Mizzou marched into Athens and hit the Bulldogs in the mouth early and finished strong even with their QB James Franklin going down late in the game. With the little I saw of his replacement Maty Mauk, it's really hard to say how he'll play against this great Florida defense. Missouri winning this game is all about Mauk performing well and not making any rookie mistakes.

#14 Missouri > #22 Florida 38-34

#24 Auburn vs. #7 Texas A&M 3:30 PM EST – CBS ***GAME OF THE WEEK***

What's that sound? It's the sound of the War Eagle as the (5-1) Auburn Tigers charge into College Station looking to defeat the Aggies of Texas A&M. Auburn has fared well so far this season only sporting one loss overall and one loss in the SEC. The Tigers currently stand at third place in the SEC West behind Alabama and LSU, and if they plan on going to the SEC Championship then today is a must win game. Honestly, the keys to the game are pretty simple for Auburn but it's all about executing. They come into this game with the most run plays ran in the SEC with 64 percent of their plays being run plays and averaging 287 yards per game which is another SEC best. If Auburn continues to run the ball like have been they shouldn't have much of a problem scoring against an Aggie defense that allows 5.7 yards per carry and 201 yards per game. The main problem for them is stopping the A&M offense led by Heisman-winner Johnny Manziel from scoring on them.

(5-1) Texas A&M is preparing for what is looking to be an offensive battle against Auburn while the equipment crew scrambles to look for ear plugs to block out the war cry of the Tigers. The Aggies have a tough road ahead of them after having a little fun for the past three weeks and it all starts this Saturday against Auburn. Johnny Manziel looks to carry his team to another SEC victory against a team that they're currently tied with in the West standings. Manziel has been on his game all season winning 5 out of 6 games in which most of those games turned out to be shootouts. A&M has been able to pull out the W's in most of these shootouts except against #1 Alabama who gave them their only loss. The Aggie's defense has yet to find their soul this season and are currently sitting in last out of the BCS Automatic Qualifying teams in rush defense but against an Auburn team that has the best rushing game in the SEC they're going to have to find something to stop them.

#24 Auburn > #7 Texas A&M 41-34

Arkansas vs. #1 Alabama 7:00 PM EST – ESPN

Not much to say about this game here, it's Alabama and Arkansas. I can't see Alabama giving up more than 14 points in this game or Arkansas holding the Crimson Tide to anything under 20 points.

#6 LSU vs. Ole Miss 7:00 PM EST – ESPN2

This Ole Miss team isn't a bad team at all but they're not good enough to steal a win from the Tigers on Saturday night even at home. LSU won't breeze through this game but they won't have to fight for their lives either.

• Seahawks at Cardinals - Seahawks are simply too much for the Cards at home, take Arizona 38 - 17. TNF
• Bills at Dolphins - Tough fight early from Bills, but, Bills-Manuel = Loss. Phins win, 31-17
• Bears at Redskins - Close game, but Cutler throws more TDs than INTs, and the Bears edge the 'Skins, 28-24
• Cowboys at Eagles - Eagles put up a strong fight, but like Cutler, Romos throws more TDs than INTs, and the Cowboys iron out a win, 34-27
• Patriots at Jets - Brady's unknown rookies don't get the job done, and Buttfumble 2.0 gets through by the skin of his teeth, 31-30

• Chargers at Jaguars - HA! No, the Jags aren't good because they gave Peyton a run for his money. Peyton came in thinking he was playing cupcakes, and the Jags are more like, just a regular cake. Chargers win, 42-12 (Yes, that is 4 Jags field goals)
• Buccaneers at Falcons - Well I must say, this is one of the harder games this week. One may think that the rookie pulls off the heroic victory over the reeling Falcons, but not me. Falcons edge Bucs, 17-13
• Ravens at Steelers - Steelers can't pull it together, even though Flacco has a poor day. Ravens win, 24-10
• Texans at Chiefs - So there are to case scenarios for Houston in this one. They can lose with Schaub, or they can lose with Yates. Take your pick (6). Chiefs violate Texans, 42-21
• Vikings at Giants - Assuming the Vikes go ahead and start Josh Freeman, who, quite frankly, I don't think is a terrible quarterback, the Giants fall to 0-7, Vikes win 28-24  MNF

Week 6 crash course

Here's a crash course on week 6 in the NFL. Eli manning and the giants fall to 0-6 with Eli struggling with turnovers again. They are among 3 teams still winless the Jags of course and the bucs. Now I'll give the jags credit. They hung with the broncos for most of them game. With the predictions like 70-3 I applaud the jags got there effort. But none the less they still need to improve big time. On the other hand the chiefs and the broncos are the only 2 undefeateds left, and both have favorable schedules leading up to there week 11 meeting. 2 9-0 teams doesn't get much better than that. Adrain Peterson aging just 1 day after the death of his son follows it up with the worst game of his life. Thanks Obama. The steelers won for the first time beating the jets. And what an ugly game that was. The Nick Foles era is blossoming in philly with a 31-20 win. Michael Vick was watching from the dog pound. The texans horror season continues when they lose quarterback matt Schuab to injury. But apparently that's a good thing. The fans cheered. Where have we seem that before. *see Kansas City chiefs 2012. Tom Brady pulled a Tom Brady by leading a game winning touchdown drive throwing the winner to one of his no name receivers with 5 ticks left. Rg3 continues to struggle falling to Tony Romo 31-16. Was I the only one waiting for Tony Romo to blow the game??  Now finally to the Monday night game. What a waste of time that was. Almost more boring than the jags raiders game. Almost I said almost. Julio jones is out for the year and Roddy white is out a few weeks. The falcons season continues to go in the right direction... At least for the rest of the season. What's wrong with the NFL's "best" teams?

Well so far 2013 has been a... strange year, for football. Basically every team we thought would be terrible is doing great and every team we thought would be great is doing terrible (with the exception of a few on each side). So what's wrong with these so-called "great" teams? Let's start with a breakdown of each surprise crappy team this year, starting with the ever-famous fall of the Texans.

Texans: Boy oh boy, the Texans. Someone lit a match and threw it into a dumpster in Houston. Let me begin by saying I don't think it is Matt Schaub's fault. Ok well it's definitely his fault but it's not all him. The Texans need to revert to a run first mentality. Schaub is more of a game-manager. He's not the Peyton Manning-type who can win games single-handedly. He's simply does what he needs to do in order to win. Well the Texans aren't harping on that skill. They're taking him as a balanced guy who can do it all... he can't. Schaub, believe it or not, has been one of the more accurate QBs over the past few years, it's just that his inconsistencies have over shadowed his well-doing. So until Gary Kubiak gets on board with what Schaub has to offer, expect more and  more losses... and more and more pick-sixes. (P.S. As i type this I am seeing the Texans losing to the RAMS. Yeah, sorry Texans fans.

Packers: Yeah, 2-2 isn't a terrible record. But I've seen a lot of bad plays from the Packers. What people just won't realize about the game of football is that it's a team sport. If the Packers keep losing games, guess who gets blamed? Aaron Rodgers. It's not Rodger's fault that they're losing a few. Just look around him. No, his receivers aren't terrible, but James Jones just got put out recently in the game i'm watching, and they already had lost Greg Jennings to the Vikes. And then take a look at his O-line. Aaron Rodgers has been pummeled in the backfield. To this point, he's been sacked 11 times. He is having to act under pressure too much. I think they'll pick it up, because Rodgers isn't just a game-manager like Schaub, he's up there with the likes of Peyton and Brady.

Redskins: RGIII is not what he once was. That injury  affected him obviously. But as I watch him play, I realize it's not just that. He's had trouble with certain things since the beginning of his career. The biggest is sliding, and if he doesn't learn how to properly slide one day, you're in for a trip Skins fans, cause he's going to get hurt. Bad. Do they pick it up? No, not enough. They'll go somewhere around .500 when it's all said and done.

Giants: Wow so is Eli still ELIte? Yeah, but he's in the same situation has Schaub. Look around him, his offense has absolutely fallen apart. O-Line? Terrible. WRs? Pretty dang bad in this season anyway. RBs. Don't get me started. The Giants are 0-6 and no, they won't pick it up. Not gonna happen, I'm sorry Giants fans, but your team just is not good anymore. They're looking down the barrel of a top 5 pick.

Falcons: What has happened to the previous NFC South champs?! I can't say a whole lot about this one, cause honestly, I don't see what it is. Maybe Matty-Ice is just cold. Maybe the O-line is just not doing their job. Maybe... Is Michael Turner still an option? Will they pick it up? Maybe. But think of it this way, they currently have totaled their entire 2012 loss column... we're only in week 6...

Pittsburgh: I told you so, I told you so! No one ever listens to a parody account. Let me tell you a little story about a man named Ben. He was very good, when he had his weapons. But take away Mike Wallace and Rashard Mendenhall? "Big" Ben is just as useful as the clock he is named after. Not only on offense, but look at the losses on defense. James Harrison? Gone. Casey Hampton? Gone. Troy Polamalu? Not what he once was. Will the Steelers pick it up? NOPE. I've never been a huge Steelers fan, so maybe there is a tiny bit of bias, but that's one thing I can promise you. That towel won't be so terrible for their opponents this year.

Titans outlook

After 5 weeks, you start to see what all 32 teams will have for the season. The Tennessee Titans looked to be on the rise, but Jake Lockers injury could hurt their playoff chances greatly. They lost him right before a very tough part of there schedule facing 3 of the top defenses in the league. If they lose all 3, they fall to 3-4. Almost certainly out of the playoff picture with the AFC this year. But they could still make the playoffs with 2 vs the jags, the raiders, and cards, and rams, they must win all 5 of those. That puts them at 8. I would think that 10 would get a playoff spot. They have 2 against the colts, the texans, 49ers, Seahawks, and broncos left. They must win at least 2 of those. This puts lost of pressure on the return of Locker, as well as star Running Back Chris Johnson. I think they could win at least 1 vs the colts, the texans ,  but where's the 10th win coming? I don't see them beating the broncos, 49ers or Seahawks. That puts lots of importance on the week 11 and 13 matchups vs the colts. 2 wins in  3 weeks would surely get them a spot. I don't feel overly confident betting on the titans getting in the playoffs, but it's possible. The NFL is full of surprises , and seeing the titans in the playoffs definetly will be one.

Tennessee Titans vs. Seattle Seahawks week 6 predictions and analysis

So this is going to be my first post here and first I want to thank @FauxJakeLocker & @DouchyCJ2K for bringing me to the team! What I want to go onto here is my predictions for week 6 of the Tennessee Titans season and it will be against the 4-1 Seattle Seahawks who, in my opinion, are the kings of the NFC besides the Saints.

Now this is a game that favors the Seahwaks. No one has won a game in Seattle since December of 2011 when the 49ers won a nail biter. I expect this trend to continue and the Seahwaks win at home again. But, this one could wind up being closer than people expect. With Jake Locker starting I would expect Tennessee to win this game. Fitzpatrick is a different guy though and this game will wind up revolving around him. Here are my position by position stats predictions.

So, I see both units thriving, but in the end Fitz throws a costly pick six. Bironas knocks in two field goals and Seattle also connects on a field goal. Final score an unlikely high scorer 31-27 Seattle victory. More on the Titans, Fitz is able to connect with Britt who finally shows life on a huge day. CJ also has a big day on the ground. Steelers, Texans games takeaways

Ladies and gentlemen, it's finally football season! 2 games in and I have to say, it's looking good for the Titans! Aside from stupid special team mistakes, the defense is the best it's been in 4 years, and the offense, although it has sputtered at times, is doing alright. So now, let's break it all down.

OFFENSE
The offense has looked somewhat solid so far this year. Good enough for a deep playoff run? No, not at the moment. Although that's true, I predict the offenses game will pick up tremendously after playing one more mediocre team, like San Diego, or the dumpster fire that is the New York Jets. Still, like all the other cliche sports writer and ESPN analysts have said, it all falls on the shoulders of quarterback Jake Locker. Locker is now in his 3rd year of his pro career, and quite frankly, it's time to show some improvement. If not, i'll get my money ready for my new Tajh Boyd, Aaron Murray, or AJ McCarron jersey. As far as the run game goes, we'll be alright. CJ and company have had a pretty rough go of it so far this year. CJ has ONLY 166 yards on 50 carries (RotoWorld). That is only 3.3 average yards per carry, which as you all know, is pretty unusual of one of the fastest guys around. A couple more games for the offensive line to jell, and the run game will improve.

DEFENSE
Ahh the defense... The thing I was so worried about coming into the season, yet the thing that I'm so ecstatic to see in action again every Sunday! This new, super aggressive, super stingy defense, is JUST what we need to be contenders this year. Last year, the Titans gave up a franchise-worst 471 points in 2012, which is just unacceptable. So far this year, they have allowed just 33 points in regulation (39 counting Houston's OT TD). Really, i am pretty happy with that. Allowing just 9 points to the Steelers, 2 of which came from D-Rey's Jets-like play. And allowed just 30 to the Texans, a top 10 ranked team going into the season, by most reputable sports sources (and just to get the vein to pop out of your head, B/Rep had Tennessee ranked at 29, even after the defeat of Pitt, under the likes of the Browns and the JETS. THE JETS). Anyway, we have a top 10, if not top 5 defensive tackle in Jurrell Casey, one of the best Strong Safeties in the league, one of the best Corner duos, and 3 young, but great, linebackers. And speaking of our cornerback duo, I am utterly impressed by Alterraun Verner's performance over the past two games. Here are a few stats for Verner, courtesy of RotoWorld.

I don't know about you but those are some pretty good looking stats to me, to be only 2 games into the year. I'm very impressed with Verner and I think he will be a huge piece to the Titans puzzle this year.

Overall, the Titans will have a pretty good year. Best case-scenario we could finish with around a 10-6 or 9-7 record. If we almost knocked of the Texans on the road, i think we can definitely do it at home, and a lot of our schedule is easy, with the exception of the Broncos, Seahawks, and 49ers. Tennessee Titans 2013 Schedule Predictions (1/2)

Hello it's @DouchyCJ2K once again, follow me and my co-partner @Fauxjakelocker on twitter, the 2013 NFL season is very close, and with the preseason less than a week away, it's time for my schedule predictions, so lets start with Week 1 against the steelers.


Week 1: @Steelers

The titans start off the season on the road, and it's against Big Ben and.... Well that's honestly it. After the steelers lost Mike Wallace, James Harrison, And several O-Linemen, it would appear the steelers are in a rebuilding stage, basically the steelers have turned into a Boston Celtics. Can't see them beating the titans after they lost to them last year

Prediction: Titans 28 Steelers 10


Week 2:  @Texans

The titans face off against the division rival texans. The texans seem like a great team heading into the season, however they do have several key injuries. Including Arian Foster and Ed Reed. I think both of their health status will effect the texans game result. JJ Watt might have trouble against this new and improved titans O-Line. If the titans double-team watt, I think it'll be a close game. Although I do think texans home field advantage will effect it dramatically

Prediction: Titans 24 Texans 28


Week 3: Chargers

The titans finally get their home opener at 1-1. The chargers have the most confusing roster in the NFL. All they have on Offense is Phillip Rivers who isn't an elite QB and Antonio Gayes is quickly getting older. They'll have a tough time against the new likes of Bernard Pollard and Michael griffin. And the chargers D isn't anything to get excited about.

Week 5:  Chiefs

Both Teams are coming off a GREAT offseason. Chiefs have received probably their next Steve Young in Alex Smith. They also Resigned Dwyane Bowe and with Jamaal Charles and their O-Line adjustments, they could make a playoff run. However, their defense could use some work, all they have is Eric Berry in the backfield. I think it'll be a high scoring game, but titans have home field advantage.

Prediction: Titans 45 Chiefs 38


Week 6: @Seahawks

I'm scared for this one. Seahawks have the number one defense in the NFL with Richard Sherman and Co. And with the addition of Percy Harvin, if he can stay healthy, I think titans may hang on, but hawks are #1 in the NFL.

Prediction: Titans: 17 Seahawks: 42

Draft Post-Free Agency

Round 1 Pick 10
At FIRST I was like: O-Guard Chance Warmack, Alabama
But THEN I was like: D-Lineman Bjoern Werner, Florida State (Or next best available)
       Prior to Free agency I would have immediately said fix the o-line with pick 10. Now that we have signed Rob Turner and Andy LeVitre, not so much. I think now the big thing is defense. We've pretty much solidified our o-line now, so why not go ahead and fix the other type of line! Let's draft Bjoern Werner if he's still there. Derrick Morgan has finally shown he is something worth keeping. On the other side of the line... Kamerion Wimbley seems to just be having trouble. He had a hot and cold 2012 season but hot and cold isn't good enough. Werner stands out to me. Let's say he is not there. There should still be Ezekiel Ansah or Damontre' Moore. Let's go with them. UNLESS the Eagles don't snatch up Dee Milliner. Definitely could use help at corner. But i doubt the Eagles pass on Milliner.

Round 2 Pick 10
At FIRST I was like: Halfback Eddie Lacy, Alabama
But THEN i was like: Cornerback Darius Slay, Mississippi State
       I was liking halfback at 42 overall. But after the signing of Shonn Greene to accompany CJ2K as a power back, Eddie Lacy would be a moo point. So let's fix that pass defense problem and help J. McCourty and Alterraun Verner. Sure Coty Sensabaugh and Tommie Campbell have shown flashes of potential. But let's face it. That defense that allowed 472 points last year is not the fault of that fan in the stands. I watched receivers burn those CB's all year. Now I don't want it to seem like i'm saying it's all their faults. Micheal Griffin and Jason Babineaux did NOT help one bit, but let's go defense again here.

Round 3 Pick 70 (Overall)
At FIRST I was like: (No Prediction)
But THEN I was like: Wide Receiver Cobi Hamilton, Arkansas
       I made no predictions past the second round so not much to counter here. But I like Wideout in the 3rd. We definitely have a great, mostly young receiving core, but you really can never have too many receivers. Cut Lavelle Hawkins and Damian Williams and sign some even younger talent. Hamilton is an alright receiver and has acceptable size at 6'1. It's time to face the music Titans fans. It's the last year of Kenny Britt's contract and he will much more than likely not be resigned. He's way more trouble than he's worth. Maybe he'll rebound and have a great season on and off the field. If so, he may stay. But that's a big IF. So let's invest in the future.

Round 4 Pick 10
At FIRST I was like: (No Prediction)
But THEN I was like: O-Tackle/Guard Brian Winters, Kent State
       JUST because we sign two guards does NOT mean we should rest on our laurels. We don't have very good luck with injuries on the line. This pick will do nothing more than make sure that if something were to happen to LeVitre or Turner, we have back up plan W. W for Winters.

Round 5 Pick 142 (Overall)
At FIRST I was like: (No prediction)
But THEN I was like: D-Tackle Montori Hughes, Tennesseee-Martin
       Ok I don't know who this guy is but walterfootball.com has him going around this area. Unfortunately I'm no NFL draft scout. I keep up with rounds 1-3 then I kind of lose my attention span. But I do know still that we need a better defensive line. I already tacked down the end position with the starters being (Hopefully) Bjoern Werner and Derrick Morgan. So we completed that part. But what about the interior line. Draft a D-tackle (whoever that may end up being) and let's try to increase his skill and anchor that line

Round 6 Pick 202 (Overall)
At FIRST I was like: (No prediction)
But THEN I was like: Inside-LB Michael Mauti, Penn State
      This may not be the best idea because Mauti blew a knee halfway through his senior season, according to walterfootball.com. But they also say that prior to the injury, Mauti was having an exceptional year. He sounds like a really legitimate pick to me though. If that knee wasn't too bad. In 2012, Mauti had 97 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles. That's just 16 tackles under lineback Manti Te'o. That's also 3 more forced fumbles than him. (Although Te'o was actually not good, he did win the Maxwell award so...)

Round 7 Pick 216 (Overall)
At First I was like: (No prediction)
But THEN I was like: Let's just go with the best player available scenario.
I actually can't think of any more positions we need. That's definitely a good thing, but it's the seventh round anyway. Not like these guys would really make a whole lot of difference. Most don't anyway. With the exception of the occasional Tom Brady or Arian Foster. But this goes for 248 Overall as well.

Been awhile since I've been tweeting, or blogging for that matter. Been followin along with the titans picks, some were shockers, some were not. Sure nashville may not be the richest sports city in America (Im looking at you miami and New York,) but the titans still got alot of upside this coming season. As well as the free agents, I'll give you some things to look out for.


5. Shonne Greene, RB

Not sure what titans were thinking here, but they did need a power RB. However, there were other candidates that could've gone half as much as he did. They could've looked at such as Cedric Benson or Peyton Hillis. They might've bought him just to light a spark under CJ, but Shonne might take some energy off of CJ.

4. George Wilson, SS

Titans needed BIG help at safety, notice the emphasis on BIG. However, George Wilson will be a good fit. Out shadowed by Jarius Bird, George Wilson was a dark horse. Even though he may not see as many minutes as Pollard and Griffin, the titans can surely use him possibly at a CB role or a deep man.

(Note: George Wilson was starter among Jarius Bird, he had 4 picks in 2011 but none in 2012 and got 104 tackles, don't be suprised if you can't fin him on the field.)

3. Delanie Walker, TE

LOVE this pick for the titans. Another player who was overshadowed by a much more popular player (Vernon Davis), Jim Harbaugh used a 2-TE set with walker and Davis. Walker had 3 TDs, but got 21 catches for 344 yards. He is very explosive though. I would compare him to an Aaron Hernandez. He is going to be a huge playmaker for this offense.

(Note: After Jared Cook left, I thought titans would go with someone like Dustin Keller or Martilleus Bennett, but still a nice young substitute for Jared."

2. Adam Levitre, OG

Adam wasn't just an OG for TE bills, he was their O-Line. CJ definitely got his wish when he wanted a better O-Line, (Then got his worst nightmare with Shonne Greene.) It wasn't the Offensive linemens' fault though. They had 3 key offensive linemen injured in the midseason.

(Note: Roos, Stewart, Hutchinson were all injured. Hutchinson is gone, but Roos and Stewart are coming back, I think titans could have one of the best O-Lines this year.

1. Bernard Pollard, SS

I was ecstatic when I found out pollard met with the titans last Saturday. Heck I checked everyday to see if he signed, I eventually got more depressed until I realized he only met with the titans. Today I thought I was gonna lose my mind. Pollard is one of the most Physical and Underrated defensive players in the NFL. (Combination Of James Harrison and Ray Lewis at safety,) He can make interceptions and force fumbles. You can blitz him of put him on man. One of the reasons I like this pickup is now you have 2 elite safeties starting which should stop most quarterbacks from going deep.

Look For: WRs.

Media just found out that the titans were willing to dish out 2 year, 14 million contract to welker. When I found that out, I started looking on the market, Cruz is still there, but titans would have to give up a first rounder so its unlikely. Look for the titans to get another bills player such as Lee Evans or Brandon Lloyd or the draft.

Look For: DEs

Defensive ends are hot on the market. It has been shown that the titans are looking at many of them. John Abraham, Elvis Dumervil, Osi Umeniyora, and Dwight Freeney. If we could get 1 or 2 of these guys, it will be a major step up for this defense.

"The Titans are crushing free agency"

I really like seeing headlines saying that the Titans are crushing free agency. Because that's something you may have never hear from the Titans. Let's be honest, Bud Adams is a cheap-skate. He never allows his coaching staff to jump on it day 1, LET ALONE prior to the beginning of it (George Wilson). I really am very optimistic about our future. For today, i'm going to do my 4 favorite signings. So let's begin.

1. Andy LeVitre - Offensive Guard, acquired from Buffalo (free agency)
This is my number one overall signing. LeVitre was definitely the best guard on the market, and we are nothing short of awful at the position. The interior line simply could not stay healthy, much less block for the life of them. Steve Hutchinson's retirement only makes this a greater signing. LeVitre is just 4 years into his career, and has already shown he could be one of the best there is. In 2012, LeVitre was ranked number 1 overall for pass-blocking (via Bleacher Report). But here's the problem. He was ranked 39th in run blocking. We actually had an exceptional pass-blocking line this past season (ranked 6th), but had a nothing-short-of-atrocious run-blocking line (ranked 19th i believe). Overall this is still a great signing, but I surely hope LeVitre will develop his run-blocking ability. Still, I'd give this signing an A+.

2. Bernard Pollard - Strong Safety, acquired from Baltimore (released-free agency)
Pollard is one of the hardest-hitting players in the NFL. I love this signing as well. The Titans gave up a NFL-worst 472 points last season, which is obviously not something you want to see out of your favorite team. Defense wins championships. Personally, I still believe Michael Griffin still has that pro-bowler type fire he had in him for previous seasons. But, Griffin simply didn't do much in 2012, and looked like a rookie rather than a tested veteran. Pollard obviously isn't taking his spot, being a SS and Griffin being a FS, but he will surely anchor that defensive backfield. When Griffin fails to shine, I see Pollard taking over. If Pollard fails to shine... There's still George Wilson. I like the way one of my followers on Twitter put it: [What are we going to do], "have a free safety, strong safety, and a 'what now b*tch safety?'". I did think this signing was a bit overkill, but look, when a defense gives up 472 points in 16 games... you sign as many players as the cap allows to fix it. That's exactly what we've done. Pollard only signed a one year contract, which I see as more of a safety net for us. Pollard is notorious for being a little... how do I put this... annoying, douchy, whiny, and a bit of a diva. I've never necessarily seen this but if ESPN says it's true, it must be (NOT). Hopefully that's wrong but if not, the Titans only have to deal with it for a year. I'm just curious as to how much money we dropped on him. But no matter, I give this signing an A.

3. Shonn Greene - Halfback, acquired from New York(Jets) (Free Agency)
Now @DouchyCJ2K may jump on me for ranking this one at 3, but I like the signing. The Titans have lost the smashmouth running game they were notorious for in the Eddie George and even LenDale White days. I miss being able to simply run through the middle on 3rd and 2 to grab that first down. Not saying CJ can't do it, just saying that he's not the kind to knock someone to the ground. Greene is a powerful back and will (hopefully) bring back the ability to go for short yards and eat up clock. Greene's inability to hit homeruns should eat a lot of clock, if he simply hits 4-5 consistently. We need to work on holding the ball if we want Jake Locker to develop into our franchise quarterback. My ONLY TWO problems with this Shonn Greene signing is that it will cut CJ2K's attempts down a lot, and we paid him a lot for a back up. I can get over the payment he got, but I really wanted to see CJ2K 2.0. Who knows? maybe he'll hit enough home runs to hit that mark that Adrian Peterson came 9 yards short of! But anyway, i give this one a B+

4. Delanie Walker - Tight End, acquired from San Francisco (Free Agency)
As Pro Football Weekly puts it, the Titans made a "twin killing" off of Walker and LeVitre. Walker has proven he is a good tight end helping the 49ers make that Super Bowl bid this year. Not only can he catch when he tries, but he also is a great blocker. Again, we surely need help when it comes to blocking. And honestly, I like Walker better than Cook. I base that solely off the fact that I no longer like Cook because he seems arrogant, but Walker will make a huge difference this year. Hopefully Taylor Thompson lives up to what he says he plans to and is successful in fully taking the No. 2 TE spot.

In conclusion, we have a BRIGHT future. The Titans are young, and although it may take a year or two for Jake Locker to finally take full responsibility of our offense and team, we'll be alright. My record prediction for 2013 (after seeing our 2013 opponents): 10-6. This is FULLY dependent on Jake Locker's performance. If he gets hurt again or just simply doesn't play well, we're screwed. Munchak will be gone and we'll be drafting a quarterback at number 1 overall. BUT if he plays well... We WILL make the playoffs and we WILL be making a bid for our first Lombari trophy for the first time since 1999!!! TitanUP!

What the Titans need in the draft

The NFL Draft. It's the peak of hell. Hell being the NFL offseason. It means we're almost there, we almost made it through another 7 months of the worst time of the year. The draft gives teams hope. It gives fans hope. This post is about what will give we Titans fans hope, and maybe, just MAYBE, allow us to finally keep that hope for reaching Jersey, past week 4 or 5 for once. Because let's be honest, it's hell knowing your team is going to miss the playoffs.... again.

Now I may be a little bias on these picks, because these are actually the only ones I know that well... Because i'm an Alabama fan.

But anyway

In all reality, our 10th overall pick should be used on an offensive lineman. And let's be honest, we all know Luke Joeckel is going earlier. So why don't we settle for the next best thing, Chance Warmack. I watched Chance the past couple years, and he is simply great. He's got good size for a lineman, and who cares about that when you just watch his ability to block?

Round 1, pick 10:
The Tennessee Titans take Chance Warmack, Guard, from the University of Alabama

Next... Alabama RB Eddie Lacy, assuming he is available. Again, sounds bias, but I watched these guys the past few years. The hard truth for Titans fans: we NEED a power back that can share some snaps with CJ2K. CJ is fast, but doesn't have the power in him to knock guys down and carry people for 15 yards. You can't really even consider him a short yard option, because for that, you need someone who can break away from a hit. Don't get me wrong, CJ can sure as hell break some tackles, but Eddie Lacy... That guy just carries whole defenses on him and gets into the end zone, or gets the first down, whatever is necessary  And that's not even the best part.  He's not just a power back. He can outrun a lot of guys as well. SO...

Round 2, Pick 8:
The Tennessee Titans take Eddie Lacy, Running Back, from the University of Alabama

The only thing I may rather take here would be something on the defensive side of the ball, since we obviously aren't top-notch over there...

Why we need Revis

He takes a second in the pocket. Rolls out. He sees a receiver BUSTED COVERAGE! BUSTED COVERAGE! The ball is thrown deep to Reggie Wayne! IT'S PERFECT! THE PASS IS CAUGHT TOUCHDOWN COLTS, THE COLTS HAVE WON!!! IT'S A MIRACLE!!!

Now let me paint you the same picture with Darelle Revis in at Corner.

Which sounds better?
Although the chances of this actually happening are slim to none, Darelle Revis would help a completely messed up defense. Our defense was ranked 22nd in pass defense this year (NFL.com). Revis could easily be the best corner in football. So what a couple of injuries have him down and out? You get over [most] injuries. You don't get over passing up an offer on Revis. The only defensive backs we have are Jason McCourty and Michael Griffin (sometimes). Revis would change the entire landscape of the Titans defense. Revis is top-notch when it comes to man-coverage (something i find much more effective than zone). If the Jets are stupid enough to actually trade him, we take that offer and run, almost no matter what they ask. (keyword almost).

In conclusion, TAKE REVIS.

Titans Top Needs And Dont Needs: Offense

QB: I believe that we should stay with Jake Locker and let him develop over time. He has showed great footwork and throw power. He's basically just like Colin Kaepernick (Minus the accuracy and awesome TD Signature.) I believe if he gets the right coaches he could possibly be a little bit like Aaron Rodgers, just let him develop.


RB: Why the heck am I Talking about this category? We have CJ2K.

WR: This season, it is obvious that Titans owner Bud Adams loves Young Receivers. He shocked the draft last year and picked up Kendall Wright out of Baylor. Just about EVERYTIME I see the ball coming to Kendall, he catches it. Kendall Wright is a future stud, just like I said about Jake Locker, if you be patient with these guys their opportunities will come. Also it is needed to point out the titans are committed to Kenny Britt Despite Off The Field issues. I believe Kenny Britt has done well on the field, doesn't drop that many passes. Although I hate to say it, but I do not think Nate Washington is the answer. He can make stellar plays, but his consistency is not looking so good. I was stoked when he made that catch against the lions (SERIOUSLY GOOGLE THAT MESS!) But he just became silent throughout the year, this year's free agency class when it comes to receivers is outstanding. Wes Welker and Greg Jennings (And possibly Hakeem Nicks or Victor Cruz) are highlighting that category. But as I said in my last blog, Mike Wallace has led the steelers in catches basically ever since he's been there, he is very explosive and can make those deep plays that the titans are lacking.

TE: Jared Cook Jr. Hasn't been showin his likeness to the titans. He is looking like he'll hit up the free agency and go to the Atlanta Falcons to replace Tony Gonzalez and the world is happy. However the titans still need to fill this position. Safe to say the TE category for this free agency sucks. If anything I'd choose Martillieus Benett. He is the TE for the New York Giants. He is very flexible and produced huge numbers with Eli Manning, however he was overshadowed by his WRs Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks. This would be a very wise move by bud adams to make.


Offensive Line- The offensive line of the titans (Was) the best in the league, however they have had bruises in the form I broken ligaments, fun huh? I believe though that this free agency is mainly O-Line men and WRs. There are many offensive lineman to choose from from Jake Long to Marshall Yanda. However, I think there are only 2 O-Lineman pieces we need. First one should be obvious, a frickin center. Seems like last year the titans tried to get Jeff Saturday to pursue Peyton Manning. Turns out they didnt get anyone. However, a center should be one of their top priorities. Next is an offensive guard. Honestly there are 3 major O-Linemen, Thats Steve Hutchinson, David Stewet, and Michael Roos. I the titans can fill out those 2 more O-Linemen, our offense will have a fun year.

Keep or Kut (QB)

Did I rip this off of Talladega Nights? Damn straight. Does it have anything to do with this? Hell no. Now that that's out of the way, i'll give an introduction to this post series i'm creating. It's called Keep or Kut. I'll go through every position on the roster and every player, arguing the pros and/or cons of keeping the player. I'll start from the top.

QB Keep or Kut:

• Jake Locker: Keep. For now anyway. Let's be honest, i've said it before and i'll say it now. Jake Locker has potential, but if the coaches at Baptist Sports Park want Jake to flourish, I sure hope they get him going in the right direction. Locker is young. He has time to redeem himself, but he currently isn't in good standing with some Titans fans. A franchise's prosperity revolves around the QB. So if Jake doesn't improve in his Junior year, he better get it together. Or next year that highlighted word at the top might turn into a Kut.
• Matt Hasslebeck: Keep. Matt's contract expires next year anyway even if this was a cut, so it'd be a waste. But look, one no one can argue is that the Titans have one of the best backups in the league in Hasslebeck. One may actually argue that he should start. I'd be fine with that, since we did have a reasonable season when he played 2 seasons ago, while Locker observed. But anyway, a backup is important, especially when you have someone that's already been hurt twice in his career. So this one's probably going to be a keep 'til he retires.
• Rusty Smith: Kut. Or Keep. This ones a toss up. There's truthfully only one way to describe Rusty. He sucks. But he's a 3rd-stringer. He's not expected to be good. The Titans will keep him i'm sure, but it's sort of a waste of space. The NFL only requires 2 active QBs. At least put him in reserves. We don't need to dress him. But like i said, it's not a huge deal when it comes to Rusty.

Turns out those North Korean Bullets weren't sent from Kim Jong. They were sent from Gregg Williams, The saints defensive coordinator. Instantly the price to pay was some HUGE draft picks, suspensions, firings, and a jealous North Korean. Gregg Williams gets kicked from the NFL. Well while Gregg Williams got kicked, he lost about 2/3 of his weight, and grew a Taliban beard. Well Titans coach mike munchak barely gets off the hook with a ****** off bud adams, he figures i the chiefs could beat the saints, something must've changed down in New Orleans. Mike gives Roger Goodell a few snickers and suddenly as Gregg Williams rejoices from his reinstatement, a few seconds later he gets a call from, guess who, Mike Munchak.

Gregg Williams gets signed to a 1-Year contract, but why not put a guy like Gregg Williams at a higher spot besides Senior Defensive Coach, whatever BS. Titans allow the 6th most points last season. Yea, it was that bad. Why not take a guy like Gregg and put him at defensive coordinator, cause something's obviously wrong. If your gonna hire Gregg Williams over Rob Ryan, why not sign him to something bigger? Unless its for media attention. If so keep Randy Moss and Sign Peyton Manning last year.

But lets go back to Bud Adam's world. The biggest guy you got on defense is Michael Grifin. Recently though I have seen signs of life from the defense in their last games (Mainly the Jets, Jags, And colts games.) Senderick Marks is probably a very underrated lineman. I mean the way I saw him get to the QB was amazing! His stats sucked however, due to his lack of playing time. Hopefully Gregg Williams finds a way to keep this guy, definitely a future star. While we're at it, lets talk about the cornerbacks. Alterreun Verner has been doing outstanding, he may of only got 2 interceptions last year, but he rarely gets thrown too. Now back to Gregg Williams. Besides the talent I mentioned, Thats basically all I got besides Jason McCourty. Gregg Williams has a defense-heavy draft coming up, and several good defensive guys in the free agency. Don't be thinking #1 defense in the league, but if Andrew Luck gets into a sophomore slump, And the jaguars continue to be the jaguars, we could have a team getting a Wild Card Berth.
